Description

This postcard features a color illustration of Beauvoir, the former home of Jefferson Davis in Biloxi, Mississippi, a white, one story house on pillars with a wrap-around porch. The porch is lined with square, white columns and white railing and a set of stairs leads to the entrance. Colorful bushes line the pillars of the house. Trees are on either side of the image. The title of the card is printed in the upper left of the image. The back of the card is addressed to Mrs. Clarence G. Calvin in Ravenna, Nebraska. The card is postmarked Gulfport, Mississippi, December 8, 1948 and a green, one cent George Washington postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner. Information about Beauvoir is printed in the upper right on the left, "Beauvoir one of the many historical points at the home of Jefferson Davis, on West Beach Boulevard, is where the only President of the Confederacy spent his last days." An inscription is written on the left half of the card. [see transcription field]
