Description

This color postcard features a white naval ship on the open water. The ship has one large mast and two funnels/stacks. A United States flag flies from the stern of the ship. The title along the top of the card reads " U. S. Battleship Massachusetts, Length, 350 ft. 11 in,, Breadth 69 ft. 3 in., Draft 23 Ft. 10 1/2 in., Place launched Philadelphia, PA." The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard made in Germany and provides publisher information as well as indication for address placement. A green one cent postage stamp is placed in the upper right and the card is postmarked Philadelphia, Pennsylvania May 27, 1909. The card is addressed to Mr. Rae D. Wood in Danielson, Connecticut.
