Description

This color postcard features multiple ships docked in the harbor. Docks, buildings, and machinery surround the harbor. The title in the center of the white space beneath the image reads "View of Shipyard, Newport News, Virginia." The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides indication for address placement. A green one cent postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner and the card is postmarked Norfolk, Virginia, April 12, 1907. The "flag" of the postmark reads "1907 Jamestown Celebration." The image of an eagle carrying a United States flag shield is in the upper left corner. The card is addressed to Miss Mary A. Coolidge in Brooklyn, New York.

April 12 --07 I am here on a trip. The exposition is 2 months behind time. Us exhibits in place at all [and] everything all in incomplete shape. Kind regards to all. H. P. H.
