Description

This color postcard features a close-up angled view from the stern end of a naval battleship. The United States flag flies from the railing on the stern, the masts, funnels/stacks, and other mechanical items are visible and people are depicted as standing on the deck of the ship. "Kearsarge" is on a placard on the front of the hull. The title along the top of the card reads "272--U. S. Battleship "Kearsarge." 690 Officers and men. Length 368 feet. Main battery 22 guns." The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides publisher information as well as indication for correspondence and address placement. A green one cent postage stamp is placed in the upper right and the card is postmarked California, April 20, 1908. The card is inscribed and is addressed to Miss Jessie Percey in care of Mr. A. C. Percey in Gold Hill, Nevada.
