Description
This postcard features a wall of water washing ashore from the Gulf Of Mexico into Biloxi, Mississippi during the 1947 Hurricane. Trees can be seen swaying in the background behind the wall of water. The storm which is most commonly called the 1947 Fort Lauderdale hurricane but is sometimes referred to as Hurricane George, the 1947 New Orleans hurricane, or the 1947 Pompano Beach (or Broward) hurricane, struck the Gulf Coast in September 1947. The title or description of the image is written on right edge of the card above the title photographer's name and the location, C. R. Grey, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
