Description
This color postcard features a naval ship with one funnel and one pole mast on the open water. A red flag flies from the mast and a blue flag flies from the stern. Sailors can be seen standing along the railing of the ship. The title in the upper left reads "U. S. Monitor Arkansas." The image of an eagle in the center of two crossed United States flags is in the upper right of the card. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides indication for correspondence and address placement. A green one cent postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner and the card is postmarked [?]Wisconsin, May 5, 1911. The card is inscribed and is addressed to Miss Mary Brook in Sparta, Wisconsin.

Dear Brooks: --Am at home this week Home [?] but must. I expect longer returns [?] [??] Went fishing. Got a few bites. No luck: Drop a line as soon as possible. Yours Merrily, Lotties [sic]
