The Southwest Mississippi Region consists of Natchez, Vicksburg, Port Gibson, Magnolia, Woodville, Tylertown, Monticello, McComb, Magnollia, Summit, and Fayette.

    This postcard features a color image of the white brick or stone arch at the entrance of the Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. A sign reading "You are Entering Historic Vicksburg See The Battlefield; Steamer Sprague; Old Courthouse Museum, Waterways Experimental Station. Trees and bushes are pictured behind the arch and sign and a bust or statue of a Civil War general is pictured to the right of the sign. A paragraph about Vicksburg and the Park is printed on the left side on the back of the card that reads "Arch at Entrance to Vicksburg National Military Park, Mississippi: In 1798 United States troops took formal possession of Mississippi Territory and in 1812 Vicksburg was laid out on lands formerly owned by Newest Vick, a devout Methodist. Mississippi became a state in 1817, but withdrew from the Union in 1861. During the struggle that followed, it became evident that Vicksburg occupied a strategic site, so it became the object of a siege and repeated assaults. Finally, on July 4, 1863, Vicksburg surrendered. This gave the Union Army control of the Mississippi River. during the hectic days of battle this site was partly occupied by Union Soldiers. Today this Romanesque gate opens on a beautiful tract of 120 acres known as the Vicksburg National Military Park, which is the resting place for those who fought and died during this Tragic Era.     Wisconsin Monument National Military Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

    This postcard features the Wisconsin Monument a the National Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi, a 122 feet high pillar with a bronze statue of "Old Abe" the war eagle, mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry, sits atop the monument. The memorial features bronze tablets with the names of the 9,075 Wisconsin troops who fought at Vicksburg, and a relief tablet at the base of the column picture a Union and Confederate soldier with hands clasped in friendship to symbolize the peace which now exists between the states. "Monument in Vicksburg park forty miles long" is handwritten along the top of the image and the title of the card is printed in white along the bottom edge of the image.

    This is a calendar that includes 13 historic photographic images from the Lucius Lampton Collection of Tylertown and Walthall County. Each photograph in the calendar includes a description. The last page of the calendar includes the list of officers and the board of directors for the Walthall County Mississippi Trust for the Preservation of History, Culture, and the Arts (Walthall County Historical Society). This book was created by Dr. Lucius Lampton, who wrote all the copy and designed it for the Walthall County Historical Trust. It was published in 1997 by the Tylertown Times newspaper in Tylertown.

    This color postcard features a Confederate monument with a Confederate Soldier holding a gun on top. The middle portion of the column features a rebel flag and the base of the monument appears to bear names of soldiers with the words "Confederate Soldiers" beneath it. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides publisher information as well as indication for postage stamp placement. The Deep South Logo is in the top center and the left corner edge features several southern images. The description in the upper left reads "Fayette, Mississippi, Confederate Memorial...Jefferson County's tribute to her Confederate Soldiers. This monument was erected in 1904."

    This color postcard features a large multilevel building with red brick on the taller portions and white exterior on the shorter portion. The white part of the building bears a sign for "Eola Building" along the roofline of the front and side of the building multiple other signs are above the entrances on the bottom level. The red portion of the building bears signs for "Coffee Shop" and "Eola Hotel" above the entrances on the bottom floor. Other buildings can be seen beside and behind the featured building. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides publisher information as well as indication for postage stamp placement. A description in the upper left reads "Eola Hotel, Natchez, Mississippi A strictly modern hotel, 100% air-conditioned, in one of America's Oldest cities, where the Old South still lives. Auto entrance and parking facilities. Eola Coffee Shop noted for its typical Southern Cuisine."

    This approximately 10 inches by 34 inches panoramic image features the 861st Field Artillery Battalion on July 15, 1944. In the background of the over three hundred uniformed soldiers is a pecan grove in front of the soldiers’ large tar paper barracks. Camp Van Dorn was a 41,844-acre US military camp located in Amite and Wilkinson Counties, just south of Centreville in southern Mississippi. Named for Confederate general Earl Van Dorn of Mississippi, this US Army post served as a training camp for ground force division soldiers destined for the European Theater from 1942 to 1945. The camp played a critical role in preparing American troops for combat in World War II.

    Jefferson Military College, Washington, Mississippi Near Natchez

    This postcard features a color illustration of a view of Jefferson Military College, Washington, Mississippi near Natchez. Uniformed students can be seen sitting on shaded benches attached to the trunks of large trees and standing in doorways. An American flag flies atop the main building, with well-manicured lawns. Jefferson College opened its doors on January 7, 1811, as a preparatory school with 15 students. Funds from Congress, the state legislature, and private citizens allowed Jefferson College to become a full-fledged institution by 1817. This image shows the the West and East Wings, which still stand, and Raymond Hall, which also still stands. However, connecting structures between these buildings have been razed. Ca. 1907. "G. C. Mikesell in Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania" is stamped in the address section of the back.
