Named after John Prentiss Carter, who served as Mississippi’s lieutenant governor from 1904 to 1908, the 100-year-old building has been completely renovated to house multiple lofts and retail and office space on the first floor. The six story building stands at the corner of Main Street and Front Street. Carter was a Hattiesburg banker and attorney. In 1973 the building was sold to Faulkner Concrete Pipe Company and became known as the Faulkner Building. Recently, its original name was returned to the building.
