  Yachts Docked in Pascagoula, Mississippi

  This black and white picture postcard features a Yacht named "Bessy H. Dantzler docked at a harbor in Pascagoula. The Yacht has the name of the boat on the stern, a single stack, a pole mast, and is draped along the side with life preservers. A flat boat is behind the yacht and several other yachts are docked in the distance. The handwritten title in the bottom center simply reads "Pascagoula, Miss" and "CEW" is handwritten in the bottom right corner.   C. D. Coch P and L, Logtown, Mississippi

  This postcard features a black and white image of a park-like setting at Logtown, Mississippi on the Pearl River, with moss covered trees and sitting benches. The image shows a family fishing and a couple seated on a riverside bench. Logtown is now a ghost town located in Hancock County, Mississippi. It is one of several ghost towns situated within the 125,000-acre acoustic buffer zone of NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center. It stood along the banks of the Pearl River and had been the site of a very large sawmill and logging community. "C. D. Coch P and L, Logtown, Miss" is written in the lower right edge of the image.   Gulf and Ship Island Railroad Depot, Wiggins, Mississippi, ca. 1904

  This sepia toned photograph is a rare original photograph of the Gulf and Ship Island Railroad Depot at Wiggins in Stone County in ca. 1904. The City Drug Store, the Western Union Telegraph and Cable office, and the Southern Express Company are shown, as well as dozens of white and black citizens awaiting a coming train. On the side of the Depot is a Wiggins sign, noting Jackson is 125 miles away and the distance of Gulfport. Three sets of tracks are noted next to the two-story Depot. The photograph is mounted on a black board. Wiggins is named after Wiggins Hatten, the father of Madison Hatten, one of the area’s original settlers. It was incorporated in 1904, and the 1910 census reported 980 residents. In the early 1900s, Wiggins was a booming town due to the timber industry, with it serving as headquarters of the Finkbine Lumber Company. On January 21, 1910, more than half of Wiggins was destroyed by large fire, including this depot building.

A white sign extends from the side of the building. A man in an apron is standing on the side of the street in front of the buildings. Tress and a powerline pole are behind the second building.
